QR Codes- What are they?
What exactly are QR Codes?
A QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response code) is a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code) first designed for the automotive industry. More recently, the system has become popular outside of the industry due to its fast readability and comparatively large storage capacity. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be made up of any kind of data (e.g., binary, alphanumeric, or Kanji symbols)- Taken from Wikipedia
Although not as popular here in Ireland as other countries at the moment, QR codes are quickly gathering popularity due to the rise of smartphones. QR codes are a great way to drive traffic from printed adverts to specific landing pages, or to download your details to a users smart phone. Some have used QR codes to promote a bands new single, by having them printed on Tee-Shirts!!
Integrating Print & digital media is the way forward and QR codes offer an easy step to integrating both in your marketing campaigns, it could work out as a fantastic way of promotion for your business.
